Due to the increase of the fetus at 33 weeks of pregnancy the expectant mother can feel all the charm of a burning misfortune called heartburn. The reason is that the baby is growing, increasing in size, and it begins to put pressure on the mother’s internal organs. As a result, the acid of the pressed stomach is poured into the lower esophagus, irritating its mucous membrane.
Under the influence of progesterone the tone of esophageal muscle is relaxed. In such condition the content can return back into the esophagus from the stomach. Therefore, when dealing with heartburn without major changes in the diet – don’t be afraid.
Try to eat frequently and in small portions. It is better to eat boiled vegetables. Refrain from fried and sharp, exclude fat, eat 3-4 hours before bedtime.
